Literature Text

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:
- Bold indicates that a character is talking telepathically through the Ghost World.
- Some of these have more obscure meanings in them; those are explained in the description.
- I do not have an iPod. Kitten Karnivore gave me song recommendations and I used those. The only song that I picked out of any of them is "The Harold Song."
- PLEASE DON'T ASK FOR THE ARTIST. IT IS IN THE DESCRIPTION!
- These can contain pairings that might bring up some questionable values, such as bestiality and/or slash. If you have a problem with either, it is suggested that you don't read.
- There may be some continuity errors/unproperly quoted quotes. Please don't give me a hard time about this. I only had the time of the song to write these, that's it.

1 – EVACUATE THE DANCE FLOOR

Cats seriously can't dance.

Sissel had been watching the others dance for over an hour now, and the lights assaulting his vision and the loud booming music hurting his ears was driving him nuts as opposed to making him want to jump in and dance with the crowd. It made it even worse seeing at the very center of the activity was a certain crazy white-coated detective, making Lynne's full-off-of-chicken dance seem like the most beautifully choreographed movement in the world.

The cat's ears twitched as he temporarily froze time by crossing over to the Ghost World, and he stared hard at Missile's core.

I hope I'm not the only one not having a fun time here, the cat growled to the dog.

To his shock, the dog didn't respond. And that was because he was dancing, too.

2 – ALL ABOUT US

"It hurts, Sissel. They won't even look at us." The man crouched under a tree, trying to shelter him and a little kitten from the rain. His bleak eyes stared as he watched little kids dance in the rain, passing the both of them by, resonating within both of their cores. At times he just wanted to take them captive, force them to see his misery, dark dark misery…

If I could take your pain away, I would, the black kitten murmured within his mind, nestling closer to his red jacket. I really would.

Yomiel sobbed.

3 – HERO

THEY'LL ALL BE DEAD.

THEY'LL ALL BE DEAD BY THE END OF TONIGHT HAHAA
I WILL GET REVENGE FOR
THEM RUINING MY LIFE.

"Why are you doing this!?"

WHY AM I DOING THIS INSPECTOR?
YOU KNOW PERFECTLY WELL WHY

IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT, YOU FUCKING HYPOCRITE

The lamp suddenly moved on its own, and Yomiel blinked, turning his attention to the light that turned on. What—he entered the Ghost World… who was that?

"I noticed you." YOU THINK YOU CAN STOP ME, DO YOU

The other spirit didn't respond.

I DON'T KNOW WHY "you're wearing my face… But you might as well give it up now."
I CONTROL EVERYTHING
EVERYTHING.

Yomiel started to laugh insanely. He didn't even recognize the other spirit, all he cared about WAS KILLING THAT DAMNED SON OF A BITCH.

He raised his gun—

"N-no! Don't shoot!"

Bang.

4 – FIGHTER

It's cold cold cold and man I've been out of my body for a long time, haven't I? but that doesn't matter now because he needs to get out of here, needs to finish what he started,  needs to support those foreigners to get what he wants to get what he needs.

He rises from the dead and he watches the shocked expression manifest on the Inspector's face and the pigeon man back up, staring at him with wide eyes. I always make an entrance, don't I.

They've got it all right, they've got it all right he's a monster, a manipulator. Unfortunately that's their fault, and that's precisely why he has to kill them. Too bad the Inspector had to drag someone into his crossfire like that. Well, he can cry in hell…

He turns and glances down at Cupid. God of love, ha, if only you had appeared earlier in my life, helped me when I needed to be with others. But that's okay, because you can help me with this task. To make up for it. He twitches the switch and watches as the fire catches on the end of the arrow, and the fear reflect on both of their faces. He turns to the pigeon guy.

"I have nothing against you. In fact, I want to thank you." Provided him with a way to come back up instead of falling all the way back down.

But unfortunately, I have to kill you. Because if I let you live, then I will be destroyed.

Nothing personal.

5 – ALL THE RIGHT MOVES

Sissel could hardly breathe.

The submarine was sinking, the girls he had been protecting were nearly doomed, and he was stuck himself, not to mention that Missile had no idea what to do. And they were stuck in a room with a known murderer, who was staring at them. Granted, he did temporarily save them from the rising water, but that didn't change what he did.

And Sissel didn't even know if he was named 'Sissel' anymore. And at the end of the night, he would cease to exist.

All of their efforts had been for naught. The little blue flame of a spirit let this sink in as he felt an increasing wave of despair crush him and all of his hopes. He could hear the others speaking around him, but did it even matter? All he had done, all he had tried to achieve, it had all been for nothing, and it was his fault for being irresponsible. He wanted to blame the man in front of them, the murderer, but he knew truly it was because he had been so damn selfish.

He saved a girl, five times. He saved another girl. He saved four detectives… and it had been for nothing.

I'm sorry, so so sorry… I failed you all.

6 – WELCOME HOME

The ten years passed by him rather slowly, and twisted his heart further and further into weeping from where it had been initially. The pain did not lessen as time passed by; in fact, it worsened to a great degree.

Missile watched carefully, and waited. He waited diligently, very very diligently, for the opportunity to arise. That's what doggies do, after all. And he wasn't going to let a bleeding heart deter him from this destiny.

Finally, he appeared. He couldn't see his true form, and of course the poor fellow didn't remember anything about himself, but it was definitely him, the one he had been waiting for all these years. He was going to get his family back…

Help me, he begged of the other ghost, who seemed lost, unable to maneuver under his own metaphorical feet. Please.

The ghost seemed to notice him, was breathing, was… well not alive per se, but awake, and able to help, and ready to help, too. Finally, I will be freed of this nightmare. Missile's tired old lips pulled back into a smile. Finally, someone will hear my pleas. I will be able to save my mistresses. It has been far too long… Finally—

I'm sorry, the other ghost apologized, mistakenly taking the form of the man splayed out on the ground. And then, the horror set in, the terrible horror, oh no have I made a terrible mistake, oh no—I'm sorry, but I can't help. I have to figure out who I am. I wish you luck on… whatever it is that is troubling you. The other spirit leaped from inanimate object to inanimate object, before disappearing down the phone line… permanently.

7 – IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD

This night had been… rather eventful for Lynne.

It would probably be if your best friend was a ghost, after all. A ghost that revives you every time you die.

Lynne had already long since accepted the idea that she might die some day, so she generally regarded the topic with a nonchalant air. When it actually happened… well, she was a little startled at first. But she grew to like the ghost world, talking telepathically to another human being who had met the same fate earlier that night, a fate that for the life of her she couldn't remember.

So, at some point, she tried to go for more daring and adventurous deaths, to impress him. Yes, it was death, she should take it seriously… but she somehow couldn't. Especially with this Sissel person around.

Now imagine how proud she was when she got killed by a giant chicken.

8 – UNINTENDED

Life was cruel, torturous, and terrible. It could make one invisible, change one, and destroy one all in one sitting, without even batting an eyelash as it continues to go on.

Yomiel knew all too well how terrible life could be, especially since he was unable to escape it. Whenever he walked, the meteorite buried deep within him dug into his ribs, and even though it could never injure him, it always hurt knowing it was there. He could never escape this fate, and he would have to sit back and watch others pass him by, caring only that he was Yomiel, Yomiel the hacker, Yomiel the murderer, Yomiel the crazy guy, Yomiel the freak, Yomiel the guy who is supposed to be dead. And he couldn't escape it, since he couldn't escape life, no matter how much he tried.

Not everyone looked at him that way, however. Along with him for his ride of life was a special someone, a special cat who always looked up at him with adoring eyes.

He was an unintended passenger, with Yomiel not even having meant to have made contact with him in the first place, and he always loved him unconditionally. Because to him, he was Yomiel the savior.

9 – SCREAM SILENCE

Sissel knew nothing about himself. Every time he tried to recognize his voice, remember his name, feel his own skin, he knew nothing. Ray, for the longest time his only friend, told him nothing, even though he probably knew more than anyone else there. He wasn't even sure of his form.

The only lead he had had, Lynne, held no information about him. And at first, Sissel thought he had washed his hands clean of the girl. She held nothing valuable for him, and it was pointless to even entertain the idea of helping her out, since she didn't seem to know him at all. Not only that, but why had she even met with him, anyway, and how did he die while meeting with her? Perhaps… But that couldn't be true, right? Not that it mattered. Sissel held no interest for her, and only wanted to help himself. He only truly stuck with her because Ray insisted he did.

However, time changes its pupils. After time passed on and the young detective died multiple times, he suddenly seemed to take on her personality, even though she never really did anything that majorly impacted him so much as he impacted her. And, for the first time since, well, as far back as the ghost could remember, he could feel himself bonding with her on a deeper level, as if he was almost drawn to her strength… her strength she had shown through her personality, rather than through muscles or physical ability.

Was he truly becoming enamored with the woman? Maybe. That's one fact about himself he'd rather keep silent.

10 – THE HAROLD SONG

It is so unbearably dark.

So, so unbearably dark, so dark too dark why is it so dark…

He watches, he waits, he listens, he runs, he seeks, he smells, he tastes, he thinks. He cries as his efforts prove nothing, he watches nothing, he waits for nothing, he listens to nothing, he runs after nothing, he smells nothing, he tastes nothing. His senses fail him as he runs down the street. He doesn't make noise as an alarmed policeman swerves around him, screaming, "What's that cat doing there!?" It's because he doesn't hear him over the breaking of his own heart.

He touches the ghost world with his little paws, tries to reach for that old mental connection that had reassured him on nights such as these, that made him feel safe, loved, and most definitely not alone. He feels no one. He swallows, and manages to sob, Are you there? Please, answer me…

He receives no answer.

Please…

Nothing.

I love you.

He misses Yomiel. He misses Yomiel so much.

    SONG MEME:

Put your iPod on shuffle, and write 10-15 oneshots based off of the song you are listening to. Oh, and there's a twist... you can only write for as long as the song lasts.

You can write anything, including AUs. I played it safe and only put one AU in there (two if you count the alternate in game ending as an AU), but it doesn't really matter what you try.

You can't repeat the song or anything. Also, according to the rules, you're supposed to stop midsentence, but because I am such a stickler for finishing my sentences, I finish the sentence the song ends on then add an extra one if I need it. You may call it cheating, but hey. :XD:

    THE -SHOT'S:

    1. EVACUATE THE DANCE FLOOR - CASCADA
I decided to put a humorous one for the start. Nothing to explain for this one, really, since it isn't so in depth.

    2. ALL ABOUT US - T.A.T.U.
Once again, this one needs no explanation. Just takes place when Sissel is being talked to by mental link by Yomiel. No pairings.

    3. HERO - SKILLET
This one is based on the alternate ending in the game if Yomiel busts you while you're saving Cabanela. Technically could be considered AU. I was thinking about what Yomiel could possibly be thinking when he catches you. He says he always knew you were helping, but then, why would he stop you?

    4. FIGHTER - CHRISTINA AGUILERA
Needs no explanation. Based on the pigeon guy's death at Yomiel's hands.

    5. ALL THE RIGHT MOVES - ONE REPUBLIC
Based on the near endgame, when the submarine is sinking and Yomiel is telling you about his (rather depressing) story. I wanted to have a shot at what Sissel could possibly be thinking. Inspired slightly by Ghost Trick's TV Tropes Tear Jerker article-
When Sissel gives up on his own illusion of being Yomiel and reverts back to his soul's basic flame-form. This one single moment just screams "We know nothing about that poor guy and he knows nothing either. Everything was wrong, we knew nothing, all the time. We were and are at zero, despite all our efforts. And it's almost Dawn."

    6. WELCOME HOME - COHEED AND CAMBRIA
Based on alternatefuture!Missile's story that he tells you at the end regarding on how Sissel refused to help him the first time around.

    7. IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD - R.E.M.
How many fucking times does that girl die, anyway? And she seems to like making a scene out of her deaths, too... Slight Lynne/Sissel.

    8. UNINTENDED - MUSE
There is someone who used to care about you, you know, Yomiel. You weren't all by yourself. x

    9. SCREAM SILENCE - CREED
Just wanted an excuse to write some Lynne/Sissel. X]

    10. THE HAROLD SONG - KE$HA
Yomiel/Sissel. AU. The implication by this oneshot is that at some point, Yomiel left Sissel behind. (You can make up your own reasons for why this is. Personally, I thought it was an accident, but Sissel can't get into contact with Yomiel again. It may also be because he's regretting naming Sissel, well, after his fiancee. Whatever the case, Sissel ain't too happy about it.) This also implies that Yomiel has carried out the plan with the foreigners... alone.
